What is the French GCSE course?
This course is suitable for those wishing to gain a formal qualification in the language. You should either have completed a beginners and improvers adult education course, studied the language for at least 2 years at school or have spent some time living in a French speaking country.

Teaching and Learning
This course will improve your language skills in the four key areas: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

You will learn the grammar and breadth of vocabulary necessary to take the examination and practise the types of tasks that you will encounter.

You will be expected to set aside at least one hour a week between classes for follow up work.

Assessment details
The formal assessment consists of a written examination paper, an oral interview and a listening test.

NB This is funded as an examination board course and students should expect to enter the examinations.

This is a Learning & Skills Council (LSC) funded course and you may be exempt from the tuition fee, however, you would be required to pay the examination fee at the time of enrolment. Tuition fees for overseas students may vary from those quoted.

Extra costs : Writing materials, note book/A4 file, lined paper, bilingual dictionary and course book (approximately £20).
