Description of course:
This is the course for you if you are interested in Film but also want to understand and appreciate it better. Year One. The Study of British and Hollywood Cinema. This involves both a study of the way the film industry works from production through to viewing in cinemas and at home and of particular films; British crime films and American films about young people. You will also work on an analysis of a film of your own choosing and write a script, produce a storyboard or shoot a short film. Year Two. The Study of World Cinema and the analysis of how different kind of films work on their audiences. There will be an individual research project on a group of films of your own choosing and further practical work.

Method of assessment:
AS: Coursework 40% Examination 60% A2: Coursework 50% Examination 50%

Progression opportunities and careers:
Opportunity to progress into film/ media related courses or as a general entry qualification for Higher Education.

Entry requirements:

GCSE English at grade C or above
