Administration in 21st Century Level 2
This course provides the skills and knowledge needed for a career in Business and Administration and is ideal if you would like to return to work. This course includes a work placement for one day a week and attendance at College on the other four days.

Course Content:
The course incorporates the following qualifications:
  • OCR NVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration
  • OCR Level 2 Certificate
  • /Diploma in Text Processing (Intermediate)
  • OCR NVQ Level 2 in Business and Administration
  • This qualification is entirely work-related and is based on a broad range of competencies from the administration sector. The qualification is competence-based with skills, knowledge and competences being assessed in a practical way. It provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed for a career in business and administration. To achieve full certification of the NVQ, five units (two mandatory and three optional as outlined below) must be completed and assessed as competent. Portfolios are internally and externally verified to ensure that standards have been met.

    Mandatory Units:
  • Unit 201 Carry out your responsibilities at work
  • Unit 202 Work within your business environment


Optional Units:
  • Unit 209 Store, retrieve and archive information
  • Unit 220 Operate office equipment
  • Unit 224 Produce documents
There are also IT Software units available.
  • OCR Level 2 Certificate
  • /Diploma in Text Processing (Intermediate) These units aim to develop students ability to produce a range of business documents in a work-related context. They are widely recognised by employers as the benchmark qualifications in text processing. The Level 2 Certificate is awarded to students achieving the core unit of 'Text production (Intermediate)' plus one other unit from those listed below. The Level 2 Diploma is awarded to students achieving the core unit plus three other units from those listed below.

  • Audio-transcription (Intermediate)

Work Experience / Practical Experience:
Work experience is a key component of the course. All students will attend a work placement for one day per week, to start as soon as possible but no later than six weeks from the start of the course.

Attendance Requirements:
Full-time. Details regarding expected course timetable and attendance will be given at interview, if available.

Entry Process:
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor, allowing you to find out more and check that the course is the best option for you. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.

Assessment:
Assessment differs for each of the subjects studied. It may include both continuous assessment and examinations.
