'AS' and 'A2' English Language and Literature

Duration: AS 1 year, A2 2 years
Course Level: Level 3
This course combines elements from the study of both language and literature and is particularly suitable for those wanting to develop their creative and analytical skills.

What will I study?
AS Level students will look at both literary
texts (novels, poems, plays etc), as well as
a range of non-literary texts (adverts, articles, leaflets etc).
Students will also study language change in the analysis of two novels from different periods.
At A2 Level students will analyse the differences between speech and writing, study a play by Shakespeare, and develop their skills in comparing literary and non-literary texts.

What next?
Students who successfully complete this course may progress on to higher education courses in Teacher Training, Public Relations, Marketing, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies and Journalism.
