Course description
The English Language is more varied and wide spread in its use than any other language in the world. Its vocabulary, as well as its form, are constantly growing and changing. This course is designed to engage you in a systematic study of the nature and functions of this rich language.
There is practical investigation and development of theoretical knowledge of language, balanced with the extension of your expertise in writing in many different forms. There are no set texts, as we analyse spoken and written data from a variety of sources. The focus is very broad, taking in extracts and texts, literary and non-literary,
from both past and present.
An excellent general qualification that fits well with other Advanced Level subjects; it is an ideal subject for those wishing to study English at university. It is also a good qualification for those who want to go into advertising, TV or media work, teaching, law, psychology, speech therapy and other professions which involve interpersonal skills.

A levels are divided into two courses, AS taken in the first year and A2 in the second year; combined together they equal a full A level. Both the AS and A2 courses comprise 2 units. On the whole, A levels are assessed through formal examinations at the end of the AS programme and then again at the end of the A2 programme. In some practically based subjects there is a coursework component. Both AS and A2 qualifications count towards the requirements for university entrance.
*Students aged 16-18 will not be required to pay the full course fee, in most cases your fee will not exceed £150. Please contact us if you need more information regarding fees for full-time courses.
