Course description
There has never been a more exciting time to study politics than today. This course will give you a better understanding of the issues you see, hear or read about in your everyday lives. The course includes issues around how people take part in politics and patterns of voting behaviour to understanding how Electoral Systems work and, a favourite of past students, Pressure Group activity such as â€-Fathers for Justice†and Greenpeace.
You will learn through the use of debates and forums that allow you to explore your views and explore new perspectives and political views on changes to our system past and present. Learning is also done through the use of videos and research group work. One thing you will have on completion of the course, is an in-depth and informed opinion.
Although at AS you will learn about how the UK Government works and how it makes day-to-day decisions running our country, the A2 course gives you the opportunity to compare UK and US government and politics. The subject fits well with History, English, Sociology and Media Studies.

A levels are divided into two courses, AS taken in the first year and A2 in the second year; combined together they equal a full A level. Both the AS and A2 courses comprise 2 units. On the whole, A levels are assessed through formal examinations at the end of the AS programme and then again at the end of the A2 programme. In some practically based subjects there is a coursework component. Both AS and A2 qualifications count towards the requirements for university entrance.
*Students aged 16-18 will not be required to pay the full course fee, in most cases your fee will not exceed £150. Please contact us if you need more information regarding fees for full-time courses.
