Course description
The media touches every aspect of our modern lives, from the films we watch to the magazines we read. If you want to gain an inside knowledge of how and why the media manipulates information, this is the subject for you. Students will have the opportunity to learn:
• How film, TV and magazines convey messages, both hidden and open
• How audiences use the media, and how they can be affected by what they watch or read
• How large media industries work with smaller ones to make a lot of money
• How to make media products of your own in print, TV or film formats.
The AS/A2 course is assessed through a combination of coursework and written examination. The skills you learn here will change the way you look at media products forever, opening up a rich choice of both media and non-media related careers.

A levels are divided into two courses, AS taken in the first year and A2 in the second year; combined together they equal a full A level. Both the AS and A2 courses comprise 2 units. On the whole, A levels are assessed through formal examinations at the end of the AS programme and then again at the end of the A2 programme. In some practically based subjects there is a coursework component. Both AS and A2 qualifications count towards the requirements for university entrance.
*Students aged 16-18 will not be required to pay the full course fee, in most cases your fee will not exceed £150. Please contact us if you need more information regarding fees for full-time courses.
