Course Description
This degree is run on a modular basis, by supported distance learning with 12 residentials, (two sessions per semester), and with tutorial support at High Melton (no weekly evening sessions). The course provides a progression route for people in the post-compulsory education and training (PCET) sector, particularly those with Cert Ed and PGCE qualifications who require further training at first degree level. The programme seeks to develop a range of skills necessary for the organisation, delivery and management of PCET. The course normally takes up to three years of part-time study.
Course content
- Development of new skills and understanding in a host of areas related to: andragogy/pedagogy, research, ICT, diversity, your own profession and reflection.
- Enhanced teaching, management, team working and leadership skills.
- Understanding of the concept of diversity and lifelong learning as they apply to PCET.
- Exploration of the education and training implications of the knowledge and information revolution.
Course assessment
Assessment of the 10, 20, and 30 credit modules is via continuous assessment, coursework and a final learning and development project.

- Guidance via study guides specifically related to set texts
- Tutor support throughout

Progression routes
On successful completion, the Faculty offers an MA in Education, Innovation and Enterprise programme for those wishing to progress further, where students undertake modules related to PCET and complete a dissertation.
