Course Overview This is an introductory course in beauty and holistic therapy aimed at those who wish to progress to a level 2 course in beauty. This course gives an introduction to beauty and holistic treatments and after completing level 2 students can choose to continue with level 3 beauty or go down the holistic route of treatments. Enrichment days are organised and guest speakers are invited to come and speak to the students.

Qualification gained: VTCT NVQ in beauty and introduction to therapies level 1

Course Content: 1) Health and safety, 2) Reception duties 3)Assisting senior therapists with set up for treatments 4)Facial treatments 5)Manicure treatments 6)Theory of beauty techniques 7)Anatomy and Physiology - introduction 8)Preparing for workplace 9) Make-up introduction 10) Understanding holistic therapies

Course Assessment: Assessment is continuous throughout the course by observation and assessment on paying clients and at reception, by written tests, written learning packages, assignments and a portfolio of evidence

Progression: Mature students may have to pay tuition and examinations fees of approximately 600

Homework: Students will need to spend approximately 6 hours a week revising and practising skills and completing paperwork

Additional Costs: Beauty kit cost 20, uniform 72, and books approximately 30.00
