The Course
This course is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), a nationally recognised qualification which has a common structure and design. NVQs follow a similar format for all occupational and vocational sectors. The award of an NVQ demonstrates that a person has the competence, skill and knowledge to perform job roles effectively in their occupational area.

Course Content
There are two routes for an NVQ Level 3:

Massage route:

• G1 Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
• G6 Promote additional products or services to clients
• G11 Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business
• BT17 Provide head and body massage
• BT20 Provide Indian head massage treatment
• BT21 Provide massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
• Plus one optional unit

General route:

• BT16 Epilate the hair follicle using diathermy, galvanic and blend techniques
• BT17 Provide head and body massage
• BT18 Improve body condition using electrotherapy
• BT19 Improve face and skin condition using electrotherapy
• Plus one optional unit

The route that would be best suited to you will be discussed at interview. Part of your duties will include running a client clinic in the role of salon manager.

Assessment/Exams
VTCT requires that the performance is fully competent and, therefore, candidates will be continually assessed in a realistic working environment carrying out the above treatments. Some units require assignments, written exams and oral questioning to cover performance criteria and essential knowledge and understanding of the above units. Each candidate will have their own portfolio for which they will be responsible.

Entry Requirements
Qualifications Required
Four GCSEs at grade A*-C or BTEC First Diploma or Level 2 qualification or Higher Diploma in Beauty Therapy.

Portfolio
Where applicable, please bring your Level 2 portfolio with you to interview.
