4 GCSEs at grade D to include English and Maths.
Foundation GNVQ and Functional Skills at level 1.
Equivalent qualifications.
Learners over 20 years old without formal qualifications will be given every consideration. You will be interviewed for the course.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
The BTEC First Diploma in Childrens Care, Learning and Development provides a qualification with an assistant licence to practice. Success allows work in a supervised capacity. The qualification develops practical skills in preparation for work. You will spend much of your time working on assignments based on realistic situations.
WHAT DO I NEED?
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
You will need to attend classes for approximately 20 hours per week. In addition you will need to spend 8 to 10 hours per week on course work at home or in college. Your assignments will need to be completed by the set deadlines. You will produce a portfolio of work containing all of your assignment material.
The current timetable is:
Monday 9.00am - 4.30pm
Tuesday 9.00am - 4.30pm
Thursday 9.00am - 4.30pm
Friday Placement day

3c122-09 Course fees 0 16-18 year olds, 530(159) 19 years and over
Course fees are payable on enrolment. Costs shown in brackets are for those on income-based benefits. Refunds are not normally available.

WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
You will gain a BTEC First Diploma in Children's Care, Learning & Development.
You will also complete a programme of Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT. These Functional Skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
Learners can progress onto the BTEC National Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development, or NVQ Level 2 in Children's Care, Learning and Development or into employment working with children (in a supervised capacity).
