ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This programme prepares you to start working in the caring profession and to develop your skills and understanding in written and spoken English. As part of our selection process you will be required to attend an interview where you will demonstrate your ability and commitment to working in the health and social care profession together with a satisfactory reference, which will ask for information about your behaviour, punctuality and attendance. To join our programme you will need to have:

.Level 1 Qualification passed with Merit or 2 GCSEs Grade A*-D
.Level 1 Numeracy which will be assessed at interview

Croydon College is committed to supporting employability and developing excellence within the Health and Social Care profession. Units on the course require applicants to work with younger children. All applicants will be screened by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) as this will help identify applicants who may be unsuitable to work with children or other vulnerable members of society.

PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
On successfull completion of the BTEC National Diploma in Early Years, students can progress towards a related Level 4 qualification at University or other HE establishments .This may include Degrees in Primary Teaching, Social Work, Nursing, Develomental Psychology or Midwifery(subject to the entry requirements of the individual university or College).

In addition to this the BTEC National Diploma Certificate in Early Years allows students to seek immediate employment in the following areas:

Early Years Setting;
Nursery Nurse;
Nanny;
Creche Leader;
Nursery Supervisor; and
Special Educational Neeeds Suport Worker.


ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE End of module assignments, individual and group presentations and observations of professional practice.
EXCURSIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE the awarding body for this course requires that all learners complete a total of 800hrs in their Professional Practice Placements. Attendance at placements is two days a week for the duration of your course in . Placements includes Schools, Nurseries, Special Needs Schools Nursery Schools
