Course Details

At Hull we offer 2 streams of the BTEC First Diploma for ICT Practitioners. One is a General route and the other is a Networking route. Both streams cover the 2 core units, for at least 12 points, and then specialist units, for at least the remaining 24 points. The units covered on each are as follows: 1. Using ICT to Present Information 2. Introduction to Computer Systems 3. Website Development General stream specialist units: 4. Software Design and Development 5. Databases Software 6. Spreadsheets Software 7. ICT Graphics The focus of the general stream is web and software development as well as providing the general IT knowledge, understanding and competency required to progress onto further study or into employment in the IT sector. Networking Stream - 4. Networking Essentials 5. Installing Hardware Components 6. Providing ICT Technical Advice and Guidance The focus of the networking stream is networking and hardware support as well as providing the general IT knowledge, understanding and competency required to progress onto further study or into employment in the IT sector.

Qualifications required:
4 GCSEs at Grade D or above including Maths and English. Successful completion of ITWork including adult literacy and numeracy qualifications. A satisfactory reference may be required.
