Course Description
This one year course will introduce you to a range of skills in performing arts from acting, investigating the performing arts industry, set design and construction as well as planning and producing a performing arts event. You will undertake many performance opportunities on the course from performing in main shows and during classroom practical assessments to your peers and the public.

You will have the opportunity to work with or visit performing arts organisations, including The Mart Theatre, High Hat Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse, as well as contribute to the organisation and management of performance events from The December Showcase, Musical Theatre Production and Performing Arts Festival.

Additional Qualifications You will also study a Key Skill alongside your course which will give you an additional qualification in English or Maths. You will be required to produce a written portfolio where the work links to how performing arts organisations operate and function. Dependent on your GCSE results, you may be required to sit a test.

3 Days per week over one year

Career Progression
With further training or education you can go onto a Level 3 programme including: BTEC National Award in Production Arts, BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting), A Level in Drama and Theatre Studies or other A Levels.Ã, This will prepare you for employment opportunities within the performing arts industry, where you may obtain casual or part time work as a freelance actor, entertainer or carrying out marketing and administrative roles within a theatre.

Work Experience
Work experience will occur continuously within the course through working on The Performing Arts Showcase and Festival over the two academic years as part of the final core assessment. Work placement opportunities may also be available to you at theatre venues, local theatre companies/groups and performing arts organisations.

Assessment
It consists of 6 units and is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade A-C. You are assessed throughout the year through a variety of methods from practical workshops/rehearsals, essays, evaluations, research projects and presentations. There is no end of year final assessment.

Trips and Enrichment Activities
A residential trip to London is offered every year. This trip is optional and fees are confirmed each year. Visits to theatres and theatrical companies, as well as in-house visiting speakers and workshops with touring companies are arranged to enrich the main curriculum
