All prospective applicants will be required to undertake an aptitude test before any final offer is made.
Applicants will also have met one of the following entry requirements:
3 GCSEs at grades D (Maths, English and a Science related subject); or
GNVQ Foundation in Engineering; or
Other recognised UK/Overseas related FE Level 1 awards.
PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
This course has been designed to provide opportunities for students to develop the skills and knowledge required in the automotive sector and with a breadth of engineering opportunities to enable them to progress onto any number of engineering specialisms or occupational areas. The qualification consists of 9 units, 3 core and 6 specialist. The core units are designed to introduce students to the chosen qualification area and provide the formative knowledge and understanding needed to underpin the content of the specialist units. The specialist units provide the skills, knowledge and understanding within specific aspects of the motor vehicle industry.
In addition to studying Key Skills the subjects covered will include:
Essential Working Practices
Vehicle electrical and electronic principles
Engineering skills for vehicle repair
Vehicle layout and operation of systems
Vehicle and Engine Systems
Vehicle Science and Applied Mathematics
Three Additional Specialist units which may be subject to change .
This one-year course will run subject to demand.
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion studens can progress onto the BTEC National Certificate/Diploma in Vehicle Services and Technology.
