ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants will have met one of the following entry requirements and attended a successful interview with satisfactory references providing information on behaviour, punctuality and attendance:

Entry Level Certificate in Skills for Working Life, Life Skills or other Entry Level awards; or
An appropriate standard of Literacy and Numeracy; or
Related interests and experiences.

Applicants will also be required to undertake initial assessments.
PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
These are broad-based Travel and Tourism courses consisting of four units (Certificate) and six units (Diploma). These courses are ideal for those students who require an alternative, vocational Travel and Tourism qualification or those who have not achieved formal qualifications but wish to progress to a FE Level 2 qualification. Work experience is an integral part of the course and all students will have to participate in this activity.

In addition to studying Key Skills Level 1 and Basic Skills Level 1 the subjects covered will include:

Customer Service;
Itinerary Planning;
Planning in Travel and Tourism;
Starting Work; and
Working in the Industry.
Life Skills 1 (Unit for Introductory Certificate)
Work Experience (Unit for Introductory Diploma)
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
Students may chose to progress onto a BTEC First Diploma in Travel course Level 2 after achieving the BTEC Introductory Certificate/Diploma in Travel and Tourism qualification, providing that Basic Skills Leve1 1 Literacy is achieved and level 1 IT Key Skills. Students will also need to have a minimum record of 80% attendance with good punctuality in line with the college policy.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE The students have to complete 8 units which are assessed through written course work/assignments.
EXCURSIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE 2 weeks work experience as part of unit 11. One to Thorpe Park as part of Unit 9 Planning Trips. Other excursions are not compulsory but recommended.
