BTEC National Award in Travel and Tourism
This is a practical, work related course. Students learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. Students focus on a particular subject area and develop a range of specialist skills and knowledge. Assignments are usually internally set and assessed - there are no external examinations on this course. Students will be given the opportunity to go on field trips and visits. Previous visits have included Alton Towers, London, Cadbury World and Disneyland Paris.

What will I be studying?
You will study units on: Investigating Travel and Tourism;The Business of Travel and Tourism;the UK as a Destination; Customer Service in Travel and Tourism; The European Travel Market; Long-haul Travel Destinations.

Key Skills: Communication; Application of Number; Information Technology; Working with Others; Improving Own Learning; Problem Solving.

Units from this course may be combined with a BTEC National Certificate in Business; or AS/A Levels.

What can I do when I have successfully completed the programme?
The qualification is equivalent to 1 A Level and can be combined with other qualifications. This qualification can enable you to go on to Higher Education at Degree or HND Level. It can also prepare you for a range of jobs in the travel and tourism sector.

Entry requirements
You will require either 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above/equivalent, a BTEC First Diploma or Certificate. Students without qualifications may be accepted, subject to a successful interview.
