The BTEC National Certificate consists of 12 units (6 taken each year). Students learn by completing assignments and taking part in work placements. The Certificate is equivalent to 2 A levels - the grades awarded will vary according to the criterion achieved in the assignments throughout the two years of the course.

The WBQ is only achievable if the Certificate is achieved. The majority of WBQ elements have been incorporated within the BTEC Units but some are taught as separate sessions. All six key skills must be completed by the end of the second year so students should have achieved three key skills at level 3 and three key skills at level 2.

On Completion
Students can go into a multitude of health and social care related fields. There are also a great number of university courses available such as Social Work, Nursing, Housing, Managing Health and Care, Teacher Training or Social Policy to name a few.
