About this course
Minimum requirements for this course will be 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above, a BTEC 1st Diploma at Distinction level, or an equivalent qualification. All places offered are subject to two professional references and a satisfactory Police Check. In addition you will be invited to attend an interview. Any previous experience will be considered. The college welcomes applications from mature students who do not necessarily meet our standard academic entry requirements.

What will I study?
The course is presented in units of study, which includes Human Growth & Development and Learning Activities & Play; plus many others. You will also develop Key Skills in Communication, Application of Number and ICT as well as the Wider Key Skills of Working with Others, Problem Solving & Improve Own Learning and Performance. Practical placements include Schools, Nurseries, Day Care and Special Needs units. For the Welsh Baccalaureate you will explore a wide range of areas including how Wales ?fits in? with Europe and the rest of the world, the health of the nation and how to be enterprising.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed by a range of methods, including practical projects, assignments, role-play and group work. Modules are graded individually. You must pass year 1 before starting year 2 subject areas.
Career Opportunities & Progression
Successful completion of this programme may enable you to find employment as a Nursery Nurse in a variety of settings, including Schools, Nurseries, Special Schools and Units, Day Care Centres and working for private families as a Nanny. You may apply for any degree level course at University, subject to good results. Degree courses could be Teaching, Social Work or Nursing. Note If your career aim is teaching, you will require English, Maths and Science at GCSE grade C or above.
