About this course
Minimum of 5 GCSEs are expected with at least double CC in science. A merit in First Diploma Applied Science or GNVQ Intermediate Science would also be considered. English GCSE or level 2 qualification required.

Fee Information: The College charges a range of fees, primarily Home and Overseas. Under 19s assessed as Home, do not pay the course fees, we only charge a 20 enrolment fee which is refunded if you complete the course. Home students over 19 undertaking their First Full Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSE A-C) or their First Full Level 3 (equivalent to BTEC National or 2 ALevels) will be charged 20 enrolment fee plus any examination fees. For Home students over 19 receiving certain state benefits, the 20 enrolment is charged and not refundable. In all other instances, you will be charged the Home-EU or Overseas Fee.
About the course:
For the BTEC course you will study 18 vocational units, made up of 5 core units and 13 specialist units. It is a vocational qualification designed to prepare students for a career in Laboratory and Industrial Science.
Assessment:
The course is mainly internally assessed. There are no formal examinations. Most assessment being through internally marked unit assignments taken throughout the two years of the course.

A quality control laboratory in an industrial manufacturing laboratory
