ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants will have a portfolio of work and meet one of the following entry requirements. Attend a successful interview with satisfactory references providing information on behaviour, punctuality and attendance:

4 GCSEs at grades A* - C; or
GNVQ Intermediate in Art and Design; or
BTEC First Certificate/Diploma in a related subject; or
Other recognised UK/Overseas related FE Level 2 awards.

Applicants will also be expected to possess a portfolio of work that demonstrates an appropriate level of creative, analytical, technical and personal achievement.

Applicants who are over 21 will be invited to undertake initial assessments.
PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
The National Diploma in Art & Design is an exciting, varied and practical course. Learners are taught in a specialist art and design environment by expert tutors who will guide you through all stages of your development.The course covers a wide range of art disciplines such as fine art, painting and drawing illustration, textiles, surface design, 3D design,architecture and special design, photography and video.

The first year focuses on exploratory studies introducing you to creative ideas and work where you will have the opportunity to identify your preferred interests more closely through project work.

Within the second year you will choose your personal area of development and undertake more specialist activities.The course culminates in a Final Major Project in which you will demonstrate the creative skills and knowledge you have acquired throughout the course. This work will form part of the end of year show.

Adult literacy qualifications will be delivered alongside this course.
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
Knowledgeable staff will be able to give you support when making decisions regarding your future. The majority of National Diploma Art & Design students progress to university and you will be expertly guided through the UCAS application process and supported to prepare a competitive port folio for interview.

Students wishing to go directly to employment will also be supported with advice on careers and liaison with 'Connexions' and the college's in house careers team.
