This is a recognised entry qualification for higher level art or design studies at University. The programme enables learners to extend their knowledge and experience of a broad range of art and design specialisms and is diagnostic in its approach. Assignments will allow learners to work experimentally in areas which may include 3D Design, Ceramics, Graphics, Fashion, Textiles and Illustration. Core elements in drawing and art and design history run throughout the programme. Key sills are also developed alongside your main vocational studies. Supporting studies include printmaking and computer aided design. Additional qualifications running in parallel with your main programme are offered at AS level in graphic design, textiles, ceramics or fine art. In the second year a personal choice of an art design or craft specialism is made where in-depth study is encouraged in order to build up a portfolio of work that facilitates entry to University or College for study to degree or HND level. Essential study visits to galleries and other places of interest are built into the course.
