About this course
* 4 GCSEs at grade C+ (with C in English language) OR
* A BTEC First Diploma or GNVQ Intermediate at Merit level
Students without English Language at a C grade or above will be considered if they agree to re-sit the subject in the first year. All applicants will be considered. It is sometimes possible to admit those without the above qualifications if they can demonstrate an ability to succeed on the course.

Fee Information: The College charges a range of fees, primarily Home and Overseas. Under 19s assessed as Home, do not pay the course fees, we only charge a 20 enrolment fee which is refunded if you complete the course. Home students over 19 undertaking their First Full Level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSE A-C) or their First Full Level 3 (equivalent to BTEC National or 2 ALevels) will be charged 20 enrolment fee plus any examination fees. For Home students over 19 receiving certain state benefits, the 20 enrolment is charged and not refundable. In all other instances, you will be charged the Home-EU or Overseas Fee.
About the course:
This course is aimed at students who are keen to develop their practical media skills. During the course students will develop and make their own media products, including videos, magazines with an insight into print and audio media. The course also explores the impact of the media on society and provides an educational foundation for a range of careers in the Media. The course is vocational.

- Working to a brief in the Media
- Film and video techniques (Industry)
- TV Studies
- Writing and editing copy
- 2D Animation
- Radio Drama
This gives a general over view but changes may occur.
Assessment:
Student assessment is based on course work, both practical and written (marked by your college teachers). In the second year you will have to undertake a Final Major Project to be assessed externally.
After the course:
Successful students will obtain a BTEC National Diploma in Media Studies. This is equivalent to 3 A levels . Students passing the course can go on to study at university, training or employment. The course prepares students for the world of work in the various fields of media.
