PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
This is a specialist Media Production (Television and Film) course consisting of 18 units. The emphasis, throughout the course, is on giving learners technical and creative skills that will prepare them for the world of work, professional practice or University. The units are mainly organised around a series of fully realised video productions covering Video Installation Work, Television Drama, Social and Community Video, Promotional Video and the Final Major Project (in which each learner makes an extended video with the content and style of his / her own choice). Some units are stand-alone technical or theoretical units about aspects of Film and Television production. .This award is a practical, work-related course where students will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands that they would encounter in the moving image industries. There are additional Key and Core Skills attached to this course which will develop skills that will transfer to any area of employment (such as IT, group work, communication and presentation skills). Alongside the main course, in the first year, learners also study for a separate certificate, or AS, in Photography to complement the development of their visual understanding and skills.

PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion of this course students will have developed a range of skills needed to start a career in the Television and Film Industry, either in a specific role (eg, Researcher, Camera Operator, Editor, etc) or as an independent producer / director in their own right. The Diploma carries the same UCAS points as 3 A-Levels; as the majority of learners who finish the course achieve either Distinction or Merit grades (equivalent to 3 A-Levels at A C grade) most progress to media related degree courses either in the Croydon College HE College or other Universities.

ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE coursework and FMP practical examination
EXCURSIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE Excursions to media events are planned for each term. Lecturers will assist learners in setting up work experience opportunities, outside of term time.
