Course Description
This two year course equates to three A Levels and aims to introduce you to all aspects of public services including: expedition skills, diversity, discipline, teamwork and leadership, crime and its effects, individual and team sports.
The course team, with its professional experience of working in the services, offers excellent, practical work-related tuition, complemented by interesting visits and presentations from visiting speakers.
We have excellent relationships with the services and have enjoyed visits to the Fire Service, Police, the Duke of Wellingtons Regiment, the Army at Catterick, London Fire Brigade HQ and the Royal Marines. You will take part in work experience and residentials which you will be expected to contribute towards. You are expected to purchase a Craven College Public Service polo shirt.
Sport is an integral part of the course, as �tness requirements for the services are high and you are expected to reach the standard for entry to the police service by the end of the course

Course Length and Study Pattern
This is a two year course.
Career Progression
Employment in the Services: Police, Fire and Rescue, the Army, the RAF, Royal Marines, HM Custom and Revenue, Paramedics and Social Services, Foundation Degree in Public Services at Craven College or provider or your choice.
Work Experience
Evident and diverse. You have the chance to take part in the armed forces â€-Look at Life programme. You will spend 1 week each with Army, Navy, RAF and Royal Marines. You will also such as NY Police and Fire Service.
Assessment
Each of the 18 units is assessed using a variety of methods, including written reports, essay and project-based work. Final grades are Pass, Merit and Distinction whidh equate to UCAS points.
