Business, Retail and Admin BTEC Introductory Diploma (Level 1)
Course Content
This course lasts 20 weeks, followed by 13 weeks Skillbuild experience [a work placement with a local employer.]
This course is an introduction to working within the business environment, retail and administration sectors. It prepares students for the world of work.
There are eight units for the full Diploma and study units include:

• Starting Work in Business, Retail and Administration;
• Working in Business, Retail and Administration;
• Introducing Customer Service;
• Personal Effectiveness;
• Financial Management;
• Introduction to Retail;
• Introduction to Administration.

In addition, students will gain basic literacy and numeracy Level 1 qualifications.
Teaching/Assessment
All units are assessed through a portfolio of evidence which will be made up of both theoretical and practical tasks.

Progression
This qualification can lead to:
Further Education: Students achieving a merit in this qualification will be able to progress to the First Diploma in Business.
Employment: The qualification also allows some students to progress onto employment in the form of Work Based NVQs and the Modern Apprenticeship scheme.
