This programme aims to cover both practical and theory subjects in cookery and restaurant craft skills for the fast-moving hospitality industry. The qualification also covers a broad understanding of other aspects of kitchen operations, essential for those aspiring to work in hospitality.

Entry Requirements:

Students are required to have 4 GCSEs grades D or above, a diagnostic assessment completed by the College Basic Skills department, a good reference from school or college. All students will be interviewed and will complete an entry test as well as demonstrating a sustained commitment to succeed.

Progression & AssessmentAssessment and Progression:

A mix of assessment styles aim to suit all learners, and include online testing, practical craft assessments, assignments and short answer tests. There are two cookery examinations.

Students will also complete Functional Skills in English.

After successfully completing the course there are progression opportunities to the C&G VRQ Level 2 Professional Cookery Diploma or the Level 2 in Professional Food and Beverage Service
