This 2-year course provides the knowledge and skills within the hair and beauty profession.

Entry requirements
You must have a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade C or above and be committed to achieving your NVQ qualifications. In addition you will be invited to attend an interview.

What will I study?
You will study a wide range of hair styling and beauty therapy skills, including: Shampooing & Conditioning; Basic Cutting Techniques; Perming & Colouring; Skin Care; Facial Massage; Make Up; Manicure; Pedicure; Waxing; Eyelash & Eyebrow Treatment. You will also study Employment Standards, Customer Service & Reception and Health & Safety. You will undertake Key Skills of Application of Number, Communication and ICT.

How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed through observation of your practical work, the completion of a portfolio, theoretical evidence and assignments.

Career Opportunities & Progression
After successfully completing this programme you will be able to progress to NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing or Beauty Therapy, Media Hair & Make Up or Holistic Therapy. You can apply for a post as a Stylist, Therapist or Freelance Consultant.
