Computing A Level (Level 3)
Course Content
This two-year course is designed to provide a broad understanding of the principles, properties and limitations of computers, including:
Developing computer systems;
Computer programming;
A range of information processing applications;
The mechanisms and methods which allow a computer system to perform a take efficiently.
In addition, students will be taught how to program computers using a structured programme language.
This course is equivalent to 40-120 UCAS points.
Teaching/Assessment
The skills acquired will be required to undertake practical programming projects in both the first and second year of the A Level course.
The course will be assessed by external examinations along with coursework throughout the year.
Progression
Most students go on to study at University. Computing graduates are highly sought after and there are excellen career opportunities available at home or abroad.
