Course Details

This course allows students to experience a broad range of 3D disciplines including SPATIAL DESIGN (e.g. interior, architecture, museum and exhibition, theatre). In this area students will develop the skills necessary to generate creative solutions to spatial problems and present these effectively as a combination of drawings, computer modelling and scale appearance models. PRODUCT/FURNITURE (e.g. lighting, electronic products, automotive, seating, point of sale) - Strong emphasis on model making, material experimentation, problem solving and use of computer modelling and animation. CRAFTS (ceramics and jewellery) - Students specialising in this aspect of 3D design would work in a predominantly practical, hands on way in specialist ceramics or jewellery workshops. During the first year of the course the students work in all the above areas. During this second year students have the opportunity to specialise more in one of the three areas outlined above in order to build a portfolio to support further progression. The 3D course prepares students for either progression into higher education (guaranteed entry to related HSAD HE programme) e.g. games design or employment.
