Course Details

The National Diploma in Interactive Media is structured around 18 units. The Interactive Media course has the basics of art and design integrated with the opportunity to learn how to explore different applications and platforms for Interactive Multimedia Design, and will prepare you for progression into higher education. If you have played electronic games and surfed the web, watched TV title sequences that move and catch your attention in those few split seconds of channel hopping, and wondered how it was created, this is where you could start to learn. If you already experiment and want to bring your enthusiasm to college and gain a qualification while learning more then this could be the course for you. To start with we encourage basic skills and exploration in art and design techniques, alongside software introduction sessions and we would expect you to be interested in communication and soon participating in interactive tasks. You will be expected to draw and design on paper, to create a range of ideas and storyboards, think about how you can interrupt and capture your viewer and why some ways work better than others. You will also want to put your ideas into action, literally, digitally. During the course you will have access to live competition and client led briefs and opportunities to promote your work in and outside the college. Functional skills are integrated into the main programme and will be developed to a high standard throughout your programme.
