Course Details

Core Units: Performance Workshop - The Performing Arts Business - The Historical Context of Performance - Rehearsing for Performance - Performing to an Audience (Double assessment) Specialist Units: - Devised Plays - Theatre for Children - Classical Theatre Performance - Variety Performance - Developing Voice for the Actor - Principles of Acting - Drama Improvisation - Film and TV Acting - Script Writing - Applying Acting Styles - Applying Physical Theatre The aim of this course is to give relevant education and training for those that are serious about starting out their careers in the creative arts; be that as an actor, director, teacher or in theatre arts management. This course gives students a strong foundation of acting skills, covering a wide range of performance styles, incorporating regular live performances, approximately every six weeks. The course will include regular theatre trips as well as visits from acting professional practitioners and theatre companies. All lecturers are professional actors and directors who have strong links with the professional industry and who are able to give relevant careers advice.

Qualifications required:
4 GCSEs (grades A-C) including English. EDEXCEL (BTEC) First Diploma in Performing Arts and other related performance qualifications will be considered. Students must demonstrate skill and commitment through interview and audition.
