Fashion And Clothing National Diploma
This exciting course provides students with the opportunity to experience a broad range of subjects relating to the fashion industry. Strong emphasis is placed on encouraging students to explore their creativity and ideas through a range of design projects involving research, design development, pattern and garment production, exhibition and museum visits, fashion illustration and presentation.

Course Content:
Under the support and guidance provided by a team of experienced and dedicated specialist tutors. You will study and work in the surroundings of the Colleges purpose-built art & design centre that offers excellent studio and workshop facilities.

As the course progresses you will adopt a more personal approach to your studies, enabling you to develop your portfolio for entry to Higher Education.

Attendance Requirements:
Full-time. Details regarding expected course timetable and attendance will be given at interview, if available.

Entry Requirements:
Applicants should hold one of the following:

  • At least five GCSEs at grade C or above, including an art-based subject and preferably English Language

Accreditation of Prior Learning / Experience:
Mature applicants (those over 21 years of age at the start of the course) are welcomed and will be considered on an individual basis

Entry Process:
An interview with the course tutor will be arranged at the earliest opportunity after receiving your application. You will be asked to bring a portfolio of your recent creative work to help us assess your suitability for the course.

Assessment:
Assessment is continuous throughout the course, and includes a final major project that will be internally and externally marked. The overall grade for the qualification (Distinction, Merit or Pass) is based on performance across all 18 units.

Progression Routes:
Students successfully completing the course may progress to design based Degree level courses in a range of relevant subjects, such as Fashion Design, Fashion Management, Fashion Promotion.

Career Options:
With further study, potential careers include fashion design, fashion buying, surface pattern and textile design, fashion promotion, marketing, pattern cutting and fashion journalism.
