Full Time GCSE Media Studies

GCSE Media StudiesCourse Outline
The course has three units, 0ne unit is practical and you will plan and produce your own media in class. You will learn how to make a magazine or comic cover, as well as study storyboarding for film, TV and pop videos. Unit one will look at how media texts such as TV shows, magazines, pop videos and films are made and how they are targeted at audiences.

What will I study?
You will study popular music on TV, from Top of the Pops to MTV! You will look at how different genres of music have a different look and style. You will also study the history of comics and look at how many of them have been made into films such as Spiderman. You will also study how to plan, research and produce your own media portfolio, which you can use as evidence of the skills you have learnt. You will learn to use new computer graphics packages (in class) to help you make your portfolio.

How will I be assessed?
There will be one examination, which will focus on Popular music on TV and comic books. You will also be assessed on your three-part portfolio.

Career Opportunities & Progression
With GCSEs you can choose to further your study with either vocational courses or AS and A levels.
