Summary:
This programme will give you a comprehensive introduction to graphic design and a recognised qualification for HE courses in the visual arts, media and multimedia. It is also a good preparation for employment in the cultural and graphic design industries, a particular strength of the region.
Your work will be assessed in a range of ways throughout the course, including portfolio review, live brief assignments and public exhibition.
You'll study a total of 18 units covering areas such as Drawing Development, Historical and Contextual Understanding, Ideas and Concepts, Lens-Based Media, Mixed Media, Typography, Indesign, Photoshop, etc.

Core Skills:
Core units cover areas such as Drawing Development, Historical and Contextual Understanding and Ideas and Concepts. Specialist activities cover areas such as: Lens-Based Media, Mixed Media and Narrative Image Making.
Academic Progression:
This is a recognised qualification to progress to HE courses in the visual arts, media and multimedia.
Career Progression:
After completion, this course serves as good preparation for employment in the cultural and graphic design industries, a particular strength of the region. Where possible, links with local industry are made with visiting lecturers and possible work placements. At present we have around ten work placements set up for selected students. This is expected to expand in the future. Our current work placements include BBC Radio, Eastern Evening News, The Point, PS Digital, Castle Museum, Theatre Royal, Sea Change, The Point, Geo, Reeve.
