- Inspect, repair and replace high performance light vehicle tyres
- Inspect, repair and replace motorcycle tyres
- Carry out light vehicle front wheel alignment
- Inspect and replace light vehicle exhaust system components
- Inspect, test and replace vehicle batteries and related components
- Inspect and replace light vehicle suspension dampers
- Inspect, adjust and replace light vehicle braking systems and components
The course is assessed via a combination of examination and continuous assessment.
- Practical assessment workshop tasks measure competence, which is the ability to complete a vehicle related task to a satisfactory standard
- Online examinations that assess underpinning knowledge, the theory of each vehicle system and its related studies
- Phase testing, which are short term time tests (coursework) to ensure one subject is understood before moving to the next topic
Typically, successful leavers will either continue with their studies to obtain a Level 3 VRQ (Vocationally Related Qualification) or go directly into work and train through Work Based Learning to obtain their Level 3 technical status.
Please note that for progression to Level 3, it will be necessary to successfully complete Functional Skills at Level 2 in Application of Number and Communications.
