PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
This course is designed for students with moderate learning difficulties and can help bridge the gap between education and employment. Students will be allocated a personal tutor who will advise and offer guidance. Emphasis will be placed on developing skills appropriate to the learning goals of each student.
Competence in literacy and numeracy to meet the demands of everyday situations will also be an important feature. Students will also work on developing their independence skills and self-confidence. Students will learn skills to support them becoming independent adults. Classes include daily living skills, shopping, cooking and budgeting, ICT and Team Challenge.
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
On successful completion of this course students may be able to progress onto the Independent Living Skills (Stage 2), Routes to Work or Work Preparation Courses.
ASSESSMENT STRUCTURE The students are assessed in a variety of practical situations. There are some tests for literacy and numeracy.
EXCURSIONS / WORK EXPERIENCE Work placements may be arranged where appropriate.
