Course Description:

To provide students with further technical skills training within the beauty therapy profession and also develop supervisory skills required by industry. The programmed focus on a number of areas which include 2 routes of study which are available: Massage route or General electrical route.

Content

General Route:

• Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
• Provide body electrical treatments
• Provide facial electrical treatments
• Provide body massage treatments
• Provide electrical epliation treatments
• Provide Stone Therapy treatments

Massage Route:

• Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
• Provide body massage treatments
• Provide Indian Head Massage
• Carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
• Provide stone therapy treatments
• Provide body electrical treatments
• Financial effectiveness

All sessions are taught within college salons, which are equipped to professional standard that provide services to the public. You will be continuously assessed through a series of assignments and practical activities. There will be an element of external testing. All students must comply with Lincoln College salon regulations regarding the wearing of appropriate dress in the Hair & Beauty salons. Supplier details and order forms for the uniform will be sent to students as part of the enrolment process.

Level: 3 Course Type: Full Time Entry RequirementsEntry Requirements:

Entry Age 17+ NVQ Level 2, or equivalent practical experience and a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grades A-C to include English and a Science subject. Candidates who have less qualifications but appropriate knowledge and experience may be offered an advisory interview.

Progression & AssessmentAssessment and Progression:

All work is assessed by ongoing theory and practical assessment within a purpose built environment. All theory and practical work is to be collated in a portfolio as evidence of knowledge. Functional Skills: all students aged 16-19 will follow a Functional Skills programme of Maths, English and IT. Assessment will be via a portfolio of evidence and external tests.
