Media BTEC First Diploma (Level 2)
Course Content
This one-year course is designed to give students an understanding of media skills and practical assignments in video, radio and graphic production.
Students will develop skills for media careers and work towards the production of examples of media products. Study units include:

• Understanding Media Products;
• Video Production;
• Audio Production;
• Print Production.

The course is designed to give students an introduction to the knowledge and skills required in the media industry today and develops learner analytical and practical skills.
Teaching/Assessment
Students are assessed through ongoing practical projects which are designed to be industry relevant and are a mixture of theory work and practical production skills. Assignments on a variety of group, pair work and independent based.
There are six units which students study including video production and web design.
Progression
This qualification can lead onto the BTEC National Diploma in Media (Moving Image) or onto an A Level programme.
Additional Information
Students will need to supply some media resources such as blank VHS tapes, digital video tapes and minidisks.
