What will I be studying? At Cardigan your main subject areas include:

    teaching the flair, style and skills of good service in a high class establishment. Students have the opportunity to learn about Hospitality Quick Service as well as the more advanced silver service and Gueridon service.
  • Wine and Drinks Service
    to learn the origin and uses of a variety of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. To serve and prepare with confidence and knowledge.
  • Nutrition and Commodities
    an overview of the ingredients used in cookery and their nutritional value.
  • Customer Care, Health and Safety and Food Safety
    additional short courses that are included in the learning programme.
Students at Aberystwyth will study:
Food Production; Nutrition and Commodities; Customer Care, Health & Safety and Food Safety.

Students on this course enjoy the practical nature of the course and being part of a good team. Skills are gained in traditional, practical and theory classes before moving on to cooking and serving. At Cardigan Coleg Ceredigion has a first class restaurant open to the general public where you prepare and serve the food and drink under the expert guidance of our teaching staff. This course gives you the knowledge and experience to be able to go out to industry to take up employment.

Cardigan - 2 years full time;
Aberystwyth - 1 year, 3 days per week with 2 days in work placement or by day release if in employment.
