NVQ in Agricultural Machinery Maintenance (BAGMA)
This is a part-time course which allows students to train, assess and gain skills at the college and while working within the industry. What will I study?
This is a practical course during which you will learn how to service and maintain agricultural machinery. The Level 2 course focuses on engineering activities in the workshop and includes the following units: Contribute to health & safety Move loads Shape components using hand tools Repair components by soldering and welding Contribute to effective work activities Maintain the work area Remove and replace components from tractors and machinery Maintain the condition of tractors and machinery The Level 3 course will involve more complex engineering theory work and will include the following units: Maintain health & safety in the work environment Establish and meet customers technical requirements for tractors and machinery Diagnose faults in tractors and machinery Dismantle, assemble and repair components in tractors and machinery Conduct testing of tractors and machinery following repair Co-ordinate work activities Repair and modify components by welding Both courses involve undertaking a period of work experience.

Will I have to sit any examinations?
There are no examinations. You will maintain a logbook of your work and your practical work will be assessed throughout the course.

What will I have at the end of the course?
Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded an NVQ 2 or 3 in Agricultural Engineering.

What next?
You will be able to undertake a National Diploma. Varied careers in the engineering industry at the specialist craftsman level will be open to you.
