About this course
You will need two GCSEs at grade C or above. A keen interest in the performing arts is also necessary. Equivalent qualifications and/or experience plus record of achievement will also be considered. You will be required to attend an interview and audition.

Introduction
This course aims to give you a broad-based education and experience in the performing arts.
Description
You will study modules in drama and dance through practical performances, enabling you to work towards performances that will occur throughout the year. Singing lessons are also taken in terms one and two. Over the course of the year you will study performance processes, examining all aspects of creating a performance, from front of house procedures, to the design of a poster for promoting an event. Performance technology explores the work of a stage management team. Performance project is the final core module in which you will work towards a final end-of-year production.

Method of Study
The course is taught through a series of assignments, which include both practical and written elements. You must pass all assignments to ensure successful completion of the Diploma. The Key Skills - communication, application of number and IT will also be studied throughout the year.
Progression
Students who complete the course with a range of merit and distinction grades will have the equivalent of four GCSE passes. You may choose to progress to the BTEC National in Performing Arts or other National courses at college. You may also be considered for A Level courses if you have English GCSE in addition to a Diploma.
