Performing Arts First Diploma
This one year course is designed to give you the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills directly related to theatrical performance. The course is assignment and workshop-based.

Course Content:
During the course you will focus on at least two public productions. The subjects you will study include:

  • Acting
  • : Skills, rehearsal and performance techniques
  • Dance
  • : Understanding dance and dance performance
  • Music
  • : Understanding music and music performance
  • Stage Management
  • Technical
  • : Lighting, sound and set design & construction. You will also undertake relevant work experience.

    Awarding body:
    Edexcel.
    Work Experience / Practical Experience:
    All students will undertake relevant work experience.

    Attendance Requirements:
    Full-time. Details regarding expected course timetable and attendance will be given at interview, if available.

    Entry Requirements:
    Applicants should have one of the following:
  • At least four GCSEs at average grade D
  • BTEC Introductory
  • /Foundation level at Merit or Distinction

    Entry Process:
    All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor, allowing you to find out more and check that the course is the best option for you. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.

    Assessment:
    Assessment is continuous with much of your work being subject to formal assessment. To succeed on this course you must meet all assignment deadlines. Some elements of the course are externally assessed. There is no end-of-course examination.

    Progression Routes:
    Students may progress on to the BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts.

    Career Options:
    Some students gain employment, at junior level, working for performing companies.
