This course is free if you are under 19. While we will not be able to confirm final fee rates until nearer your enrolment date, you may be eligible for a reduced fee rate if you are over 19.

Course Description:
If you wish to seek employment in the following uniformed services: Armed Forces, Police Force, Fire Service or other support services, such as ambulance, prison service and HM Customs, then this course gives you a good grounding.
Course Content:
Six units are studied:
· Uniformed Public Services Employment
· Public Service Skills
· Uniformed Public Service Fitness
· The Value of Sport & Recreation in the Public Services
· Driving and its Relationship to the Public Services
· Adventurous Activities and Teamwork for the Public Services
· Key Skills.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in day trips, which have included, rock climbing, rafting, canoeing, paintball and visits to public services places of work. A residential trip is also planned each year at an outdoor activity centre where you will
participate in a variety of outdoor activities.
Assessment:
All six modules are assessed internally.
Next Steps:
Public Services Edexcel National Diploma or employment within the sector.
Requirement

Four GCSEs at grade E, including English and maths or an equivalent vocational qualification. A basic level of fitness will be an advantage; you should be able to run one mile comfortably. All applicants must attend an interview, have a successful reference from a previous educational/work establishment, complete a basic skills test, attend a taster session and complete an assignment prior to being offered a place on the course.
