About this course

You will need three GCSEs grade Es or above, preferably including Maths or English, a good Record of Achievement Progress File. You must also have an interest in the work of the uniformed public services.

Is the course for me?
This interesting one year course provides students with an introduction to a variety of uniformed public services. This course will be suitable for learners who eventually wish to enter and pursue a career in the police service, fire service, ambulance service, armed forces or prison service.

What will I learn?
Your Level 1 qualification is divided into units. As part of your course you will study the following: * The Uniformed and Non-Uniformed Public Services Sector * Introduction to Fitness and Lifestyle for working in the Public Services * Personal Effectiveness for the Public Services * Diversity in the Public Services * Social Responsibility and the Value of the Citizen in the Public Services * Introduction to Health and Safety in the Public Services * Introduction to Security Procedures in the Public Services * Practical Team Working in the Public Services * Incidents and the Public Services * Introduction to Dealing with the Public in the Emergency Services.

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is continuous. You will need to complete a variety of assignments, some are practical and some project based.

What can I do after the course?
You may be able to progress onto the one year First Diploma course (Level 2). You may also wish to find employment or continue with further training.
