Public Services National Diploma
This course would be of benefit to those who wish to progress towards a career in one of the following occupations: the Police Service, the Fire Service, the Ambulance Service, the Prison Service, and HM Customs and Excise.

Course Content:
The course will cover the following subjects:

Optional subjects include:

• Health and fitness
• Teamwork
• Law and criminology
• Law and the legal system

There is also the opportunity to study the key skills of communication, information technology and application of number.

Awarding body:
Edexcel.
Attendance Requirements:
Full-time. Details regarding expected course timetable and attendance will be given at interview, if available.

Entry Requirements:
Applicants should have one of the following:

• At least five GCSEs at average grade C, at least one of which should be English or Maths
• BTEC First Diploma at Merit or Distinction
• An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy and realted interests
• Applications from mature students without formal qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
.

Entry Process:
All applicants will be invited to an interview with the tutor, allowing you to find out more and check that the course is the best option for you. Interviews normally take place between January and September of the year in which the course starts.

Assessment:
Continual assessment through coursework involving research, work experience and assignment work. All work is verified externally.

Progression Routes:
Progression to a variety of university courses.

Career Options:
Employment in the Armed Forces, private security services and emergency and community service organisations as well as the Police, Fire, Ambulance and Prison services and HM Customs & Excise.
