Former course title: "Surface and Textile Design".
Students will experience a broad range of activities in textile design to create new and innovative surfaces and fabrics. There is a strong emphasis on drawing through to design and to develop the student as an individual, encouraging specific interests and abilities so as to foster designers who are creative, analytical and self-motivated.

Students on this course will have specifically chosen Textile Design to experience and explore the potential of areas such as fashion fabrics, furnishings, knitwear, stitched and applied fabrics, home furnishings and related items such as gift wrap, illustration and wall coverings. Visual research and colour studies are vital elements of the course and form the basis of all project work. Some projects are industrially focused and student placements can occur in design related companies.

The BA (Hons) Textile Design course aims to prepare students with a range of transferable skills for employment or further study and future career opportunities within the textile and related creative industries.
