Summary:

This course is an ideal choice if you are aiming for a career in fashion, textiles and design. It is primarily designed as a progression route to higher education. You will be able to develop your ideas and skills through studying 18 units including exploring textiles, surface pattern, fashion, printed textiles and computers in art and design.

Two years
Entry Requirements:

Four GCSEs at Grade C or above, preferably including Art and Design and English Language, or a First Diploma in Art and Design at Merit or Distinction, plus portfolio of varied, good quality work.

Assessment:
The course is assessed internally through visual portfolios, sketchbooks and a final major project which is exhibited to the public.

Full Description:
You will be guided through the units within studio projects. In year one you will develop a range of practical skills, including those in printed and constructed textiles, surface pattern, pattern cutting and drawing. As you progress, you will be able to develop your techniques, analytical skills and communication skills. You will also design, construct and present your work in a range of live events. In year two you will be working more independently through a self generated final major project, which will be exhibited in an end of the year show.

Students may also have the opportunity to study a short additional course in fashion or life drawing.

Trips:
There will be a series of gallery and design centre visits to London as well as local visits within Norfolk on a regular basis.
