About this course
As an absolute minimum, four GCSEs at grade E or above, including maths, English and
double science, although ideally these will be at grade D, or the Motor Vehicle Level 2 qualification. Your numeracy and literacy skills will also be assessed prior to interview.

Course Description:
This course is designed as the first step for those wishing to gain employment in the performance engineering and motor sport industry.
Course Content:
This course covers both practical activities and the theory required for the First Diploma, which is an assignment-based modular course. You will be required to carry out practical tasks on vehicles and perform engineering operations to a high standard. Theory will be delivered in both workshop and classroom environments. Health and Safety will be
a priority, with a focus on teamwork, problem solving and communication. More information can be found on the College website. The course is designed for individuals who are dedicated to gaining a career in Motor Sport and some learning will take place
outside 09:00-17:00 hours, so you should be prepared for this.
Assessment:
This is carried out throughout the year and you will be required to complete a portfolio. There will also be on-line, multiple-choice question papers to test your understanding of the course content.
Next steps:
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to progress to the Level 3 National Diploma.
