You would choose this course in order to reinforce your ability to use Welsh correctly in practical situations, and to learn more about the literature and culture of Wales. You will need to have a keen interest in improving your oral and written communication skills and in gaining greater knowledge of Welsh language novels, drama and poetry, both past and present. There will be opportunities to attend the theatre and lectures. Poets and authors will come to the College to discuss their work with you. You will also be able to gain an additional qualification, namely the Key Skill of Communication at Level 3.

What will I study?
You will develop your ability to use the Welsh language for practical purposes and nurture linguistic accuracy. You will have the opportunity to learn about Welsh literature and culture.
Will I have to sit any examinations?
There will be oral and written examinations at the end of the year. Coursework is also assessed during the year.
What will I have at the end of the course?
You will have an AS qualification in Welsh. You can study the subject for another year and gain an A level qualification. During the second year you will have the opportunity to study the following:

Once you have successfully completed the course, you will be able to progress to a university degree in various subjects such as Welsh, Communications, Celtic Studies, Education, Sociology, Psychology, Nursing, Business Studies, Law, Administration, Countryside Management or Film and Television Studies.
